WIN A PAIR OF TICKETS TO SEE STEVE HARRIS BRITISH LION play WAKEFIELD – Warehouse 23 on Thursday 3rd August 2017
British Lion headed  out  on  their  most  extensive  tour  yet  with 27  dates  across Europe opening with a show at the Moto Clube de Faro, Portugal. The same venue where they performed their debut show in February 2013 when Steve Harris played live  for  the  very  first  time  outside  of  IRON  MAIDEN.  That tour, in support of  the eponymous 2012 debut album saw Steve and longstanding friends and fellow band-mates Richard Taylor (vocals),  David  Hawkins  (guitar  and  keys),  Grahame Leslie  (guitar) and Simon Dawson (drums)  play a series of club shows across Europe. They followed this with a 10 date European club tour in 2014 and UK club tour in 2015, slotting in between IRON MAIDEN new album and touring commitments.
IRON  MAIDEN  were  founded  by  Steve  Harris  in  London’s  East  End  in  the  mid ‘70s,  built  on  an  ardent desire for a band who would play original songs and never have their ambition compromised or dictated to by the fashions or music trends of the day.  In short – Steve’s vision was to create "a rock band that would make great albums, put on superb live concerts, and never, ever sell out".
Fast-forward to the present day and nobody could disagree that Steve’s dream has become more than a reality. Widely considered one of the most important and influential rock acts of all time, IRON MAIDEN have  sold  over  90  million  albums  worldwide,  played  over  2,000  live  performances  across  63  countries, and  released  16  studio  albums  including  the  most  recent, 2015’s The  Book  Of  Souls reaching  the  #1 album chart position in over 40 countries.
With  so  much  accomplished  with  MAIDEN,  Steve  astounded  the  world  yet  again  by  releasing BRITISH LION in  2012.  The  album  was  the  result  of  many  years  toil  in the  limited  downtime  available  to  him between  MAIDEN  tours  and  activities,  so  his  fellow BRITISH  LION band-mates  had  to  learn  to  be very patient! Steve is keen to tour as much as possible, so going out on the road with BRITISH LION enables him to play the sort of venues not visited since those early days starting out with  IRON MAIDEN and to experience again, on a smaller, more intimate scale, that same live vibe. His ethos and mission from the mid-70’s still ringing true today.
And  what  a  sound!  Unexpected,  exciting  and  unlike  anything  Iron  Maiden  have  done, ‘British  Lion’  is  a bold move from one of the UK’s most successful, influential and talented musicians.  "With Maiden we’ve always done  whatever feels right and this is no exception. But as for  the sound of ‘British Lion’, it’s just natural that it sounds different to anything I’ve done before as I’ve been working with different musicians. I think it’s going to surprise a lot of people and I’m very excited."

win tickets to see ub40 plus support acts all saints & right said fred at meridian showground on 15th July
UB40 plus support from ALL SAINTS and RED SAID FRED play CLEETHORPES – Meridian Showground on Saturday 15th July 2017
Yet another event of the Summer is not to be missed, UB40 plays Cleethorpes – Meridian Showground with special guests ALL SAINTS and RIGHT SAID FRED on Saturday 15th July!
UB40 formed in 1978 in Birmingham, England. Since then, the band has had more than 50 singles in the UK Singles Chart, and has also achieved huge international success. The band has been nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album  four times, and in 1984, were nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Group. One of the world’s best-selling music artists, UB40 have sold over 70 million records with their hit singles including their debut "Food for Thought" and two U.S. Billboard Hot 100  number ones with "Red Red Wine" and "Can’t Help Falling in Love". Both of these also topped the UK Singles Chart, as did the band’s version of "I Got You Babe".
As with all of UB40’s albums since 2005’s, ‘Who You Fighting For’, all of the tracks were cut live in the studio. Robin Campbell: "We don’t use studios like we used to. It’s like a rehearsal set-up, where we sit in a circle and play together. It helps get the vibe right." When it came to overdubs, the band used top pedal steel guitar player Melvin Duffy, whose understanding of country music helped to bring the album to life. Brian Travers explains, "We gave Melvin free reign to play whatever he liked, and he did an incredible job. He’s a hugely intuitive musician."
Formed in 1978, UB40’s have often been associated with politically charged lyrics, but that’s not the case with the lyrical themes found on ‘Getting Over The Storm’, with politics of the heart more to the fore. However, the album’s most political song is ‘How Can a Poor Man Stand Such Times and Live?’, the 1929 Great Depression song written by Blind Alfred Reed, and later popularised by Ry Cooder on his self-titled 1970 album. "We reworked the lyrics to update them a bit," explains Robin "But that’s the only political lyric on the album. The rest are ‘somebody-done-somebody-wrong’ songs. We all know someone who’s had their heart broken."
UB40’s lead singer Duncan Campbell, singing on his second full album with UB40 since replacing his brother Ali Campbell in 2008, comes into his own on ‘Getting Over The Storm’. Brian is quick to pay tribute to his bandmate, "Duncan’s been a singer all his life, but it’s been a really steep learning curve for him coming into the band and becoming a recording artist.  His voice and his style of singing is really suited to the songs on ‘Getting Over The Storm’. He’s done a great job."

Win a pair of tickets to see ocean colour scene plus special guests at zebedee's yard on 11th august
In honour of the Hull UK City of Culture celebrations this Summer, INNERCITY is delighted to bring Ocean Colour Scene & The Fratellis to Hull for a night of exceptional live music at Zebedee’s Yard in Hull’s Old Town.

OCEAN COLOUR SCENE - The Birmingham band’s story is already the stuff of legend: a rip-roaring rock’n’folk odyssey set to a backdrop of 21 years of UK pop culture at its very best.
In this 23-year existence, Ocean Colour Scene have notched up nine albums, three of which went Top 5 – 1996’s Moseley Shoals, 1997’s Marchin’ Already and 1999’s One From The Modern – and a run of nine successive Top 20 hit singles commencing with 1996’s The Riverboat Song. They supported Oasis at their massive Knebworth shows that same year, and two years later helmed the biggest arena tour of any UK band to date. Their achievements have been nothing short of phenomenal.
From their days as Breton-shirt wearing disciples of The Stone Roses (debut single ‘Sway’) to million selling Britpop superstars (‘Marchin’ Already’ bumped Oasis’ ‘What the Story’ from the top spot in 1997) to long-term touring allies with Paul Weller, they have always stood shoulder to shoulder with the greats of modern British rock.
2016 saw Ocean Colour Scene playing huge sell-out shows across the country to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of their classic Moseley Shoals.

THE FRATELLIS - Nine years on from the release of debut album Costello Music eight years on from winning the Brit Award for Best British Breakthrough Act Seven years on from Costello Music finally exiting the Top 100 after 83 weeks in the charts Six years on from recording second album Here We Stand in their own freshly-purchased Glasgow studio Three years on from returning after a break and releasing third album We Need Medicine and zero years on from the last time ‘Chelsea Dagger’ was lustily sung by the crowd at a sports event somewhere in the world.
